When I asked, “Do you believe in god.”

she said “No there is only a devil. If there was a god bad things would not happen.”

“You don’t believe the stories in the bible?”

“Not all the stories.”

“Why not?”

“Because it was written by men for men they made God a man. There is no missus God.”
“So what do you believe?”

“I believe greed is a sin, if there was not greed everyone would have enough and be happy.”

“Is greed the cause of all the problems in the world?”

“Ignorance, fear and greed are the causes of all evil, all good things are the result of kindness.”

“You sound like a Buddhist.”

“Religion causes arguments. Let’s change the subject, or we will finish up fighting, let’s make love not war.”

Comferdentually.

Not from the mouths of these babes,

By love she meant adult play, it was uninhibited physical passionate engagement.
The word love used loosely, as I often do, is ambiguous the word love needs adjectives to define it. Unconditional love – agape in Greek as apposed to Eros or the word meta the Pali word – like parental love.

Wise words.

Wise words.

My inhibitions prevented me from acting in a totally relaxed and natural way. I loved her and always will remember her free uninhibited love.
Religion gets people mixed up and perverted about their body. Causing natural behaviour to be distorted and can be the cause of mental disorders. Priests, monks and nuns, forced to live an unnatural life, come under a lot of pressure. Recently the Catholic Church has been embarrassed by priests charged with paedophilia.

A red rose has thorns.

A red rose has thorns.

I do not believe these people are evil it is what they are afflicted with that is the problem. Removing these impurities and defilements would restore the person. As waste water is filtered and becomes useful so can corrupt humans, in most cases be reformed.

Passion flower.

Passion flower.

Circumstances play a big part in our life. Life can be turbulent or calm; when we are having a bad hair day we are not at our best. Aussies are good sports men, no underhand play (bowling), when they are winning.
The point is get all the facts don’t be quick to condemn. There is a lot of good in the worst of us and a lot of bad in the best of us, so it is not right for the best of us to judge the rest of us. Who is going to cast the first stone?

SONGS HAVE MEMORIES.

To Bondi 1of 2 471_4000x3000

As I remember we fitted together like a key in a lock. Until the way-would gypsy in me broke the lock that held us together. I was not ready to nest, I wanted to spread my wings and fly. Like the wild goose Frankie Lain sang about, in the 50s. But it was Judith Durham’s The Carnival is over that was haunting me in the 60s those harbour lights had mesmerised me.

We like to think we are wild geese.

We like to think we are wild geese.

Life is a puzzle, full of ironies, and words are an imperfect medium to explain it. To allowed the monkey in our mind to wilfully swing from thought to thought is not mindful.  When one consciously lets the mind recall the past, or purposely plan for the future, it is alright. It is when we let our mind run on auto pilot and allow our subconscious to take the wheel we are in danger of losing control.

Who wants a better stove?

Who wants a better stove?

Hurrying to the future is prevalent in the technological world of today. Oblivious of our tasty breakfast we gulp our food to rush to a mundane job. Toiling for more than we need, desiring status symbols or devices we are told will save us time. Time cannot be saved; it is a passing thing that cannot be clung to. Aware, but not consciously aware and mindful, mindful is to be consciously aware, not running on auto pilot.

Full of youthful bounce.

Full of youthful bounce.

Knowing I am dwelling in the past is not fretting or regretting, it is recalling those passionate hot to trot youthful days, when love was synonymous with romance, infatuation and conquest. It is good not to forget those days and criticise the youth of today. Our vocabulary has improved now we know the meaning of reciprocity. Aware that true love is giving more than taking. True love is one thing that the more you give the more you receive.

Will they fall.... in-love ?

Will they fall…. in-love ?

Ignorant of the wisdom of the sages passed down through the ages. Back in my youth I had two gypsies in me, called curiosity and adventure, goading me on. The warm bed the tender caresses forfeited for faraway fields. There is no remorse, only a bitter sweet feeling of what might have been. I am sure I did the right thing; I needed to grow in understanding.

You see a lot when you travel.

You see a lot when you travel.

Traveling alone in foreign lands is the best teacher one can ever have.

May be this is your Christmas wish.

May be this is your Christmas wish.

In my memory she will remain a golden haired girl full of life. In reality I can imagine a grey and wrinkled woman. Our memory can span the ocean of time but an ocean of water has flown under the bridge since the 60s. Perhaps after a long tiresome journey she has gone home to rest. To be a billion dust-mites floating on the morning breeze to sparkle in the morning sun as new life.

A lovely person from the 60s.

A lovely person from the 60s.

Who knows?

I will end my love story here I have revealed enough. I have given you more than you realise, if not what you expected. Sorry if the ending was not a wonderful exciting climax. But this is not a TV romance made to make millions. It is just a story similar to many stories that leave us wondering.

This is the fruity ending, not as you pictured.

Lucky Jack.

The Captain and Cabin Boy.

The Captain and Cabin Boy.

I have often been called Happy Jack or Lucky Jack. I wonder is it because I am happy that I am lucky or am I lucky because I am happy and smile a lot? People ask, “Why are you always smiling?” “It is vanity the wrinkles are rearranged and I look better.” I joke. In fact I am advertising a good emotional state. People know I am friendly it is a win-win situation that promotes good.

Not this young, this is my grandson, but similar smile.

Not this young, this is my grandson, but similar smile.

I hitchhiked most of my way around the world in the sixties. I was young the world was mine; mankind was at the peak of extravagance, before thoughts of conservation, I had not realized there was a limit to the world’s resources. Success in thumbing a ride relies on your appearance, clean and tidy, not too big a bag and most important a smile. Choose an easy and safe place for your lift to pull-up and it is a good idea to display a sign showing where you going to.

Happy jack smiles run in the family.

Happy jack smiles run in the family.

When the lifts are scarce and the sky is clouding over it is easy to forget to smile and instead get a worried look on your face. The driver has to make a snap decision and cannot decide what the desperate grim look means so does not take the risk. I learned a smile is the same in any language it says “I am happy, at ease and friendly.” People are attracted and respond positively to a smile.

Smiles are like boomerangs they return.

Smiles are like boomerangs they return.

I feel sorry for people who look for sympathy airing their troubles with a dismal gloomy face. Many people burdening others with their hard luck stories. What they do not realize is they are keeping their troubles alive, magnifying them and turning friends away. I feel admiration and compassion for a person that smiles when plagued by misfortune.

Smiles are beautiful in any language.

Smiles are beautiful in any language.

The way to improve your chances, not only in getting a free ride, is a sincere smile. By caring, being helpful and being friendly your chances of making new friends increases and it starts with a smile. When you increase your circle of friends you increase your good fortune. The more friends you have the more chance you have of hearing about opportunities that can benefit you. It is called networking in business circles in religious groups it would be fellowship and in all walks of life it is commonsense. Smiling, being helpful and friendly promotes happiness and luck.

Smiles love and peace a bit of reggae.

Smiles love and peace a bit of reggae.

An example, Pauline and I went to at a music venue we got there early. Sat at a table in a good position all available tables were soon taken. There were no empty tables but some unoccupied seats. Two seats were available at our table. Four people came in looking for a place. I smiled and said “There is room at this table you just need two more chairs.” After introductions we became friends, Terry belonged to a ukulele club and invited me along next time they met. I was looking for a ukulele club but none were advertised in the area. I went along and made more friends willing to pass on their knowledge. I am really lucky and the nicer I am to other people the luckier I get.

Be happy smile don't worry.

Be happy smile don’t worry.

The music was lively blues guitar; everyone was rocking or tapping their feet to the music. I let the music take me out on to the dance floor and did a solo uninhibited dance. I am not worried if people think I am a crazy old bloke or high on loco-weed. Musicians play better if they have an appreciative audience. I am the detonator that set others off dancing, it only takes one and others lose their self-consciousness. I do not need any stimulants other than the music, two beers is my limit. As for marijuana, one must be careful as it is sometimes mixed with other substances. You are pushing your luck if you try drugs to make you feel good. All that is needed is music a smile and good attitude.

Music, and loving smiles it is family trait.

Music, and loving smiles it is family trait.

Music is a good way to psyche you into a good mood. On a treadmill in a gym is a good cardiovascular exercise but dancing is also a great workout. I am no longer young and fit but I now realize the world is not mine to exploit. Simple pleasures are the best the higher you go the further you can fall. Sharing a meal with friends is one of the most enjoyable things you can do. Smile and be kind to others, if you are lucky the meal you share will not be your last.

Smiles make us one loving family.

Trip to nowhere.

Flash back to the 60’s.

That fabulous trip in paradise, I never took it serious in retrospect. Back in the 60’s and 70’s Nimbin, in the shadow of Mt.Warning, 70 km from Byron Bay; was the centre of Australia’s counter culture, self-sufficiency, sustainability and communal living.

Not for real.

Unfortunately it was run over by the big wheels of capitalism. The flowers, the recycled cloths, the amulets, beads and symbols of peace, were capitalized upon by the fashion trade.  There was freedom from many laws requiring permits and licenses and from inhibiting conventional values. That allowed uninhibited sex and equality of sex, colour and race. The media sensationalized this as, sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. The corporate community and the military industrial complex had to squash the Vietnam protesters. “The dawning of the age of Aquarius,” love, peace and all this free love, had to be stopped or the wheels of progress would seize up.

This is a job for Superman in his fight for justice and the American way. The U.S.A. needed a film star president, one who could present their script convincingly. They wanted it the American way and told Superman he could not have it both ways. So they hid the truth in the Bushes, with words of mass seduction. Australia’s Prime Minister John Howards response would be to follow, as usual mother England and her American boy friend Uncle Sam, with all the dollars.

We had high hopes back in the 60’s but now we realize the American dollar has god printed on its side. We were living at the pinnacle of mans exploitation of nature and the good life and those medicinal herbs tended to take away our initiative and drive. The T.V. watchers are slowly becoming aware that nature is violently responding to the disruption of her laws that keep everything in balance. All things are interdependent and if anything becomes a threat it is not disposed, it is changed into something that is in tune with her plan.

This is for real.

In reference to my previous post The Trip into Paradise it never actually happened. It was just a flash back to the 60’s that indicates I was not too involved with, drugs, protests or hippies.

Seeing things.

Drawn in the sixties, high on loco weed.

I was high on the smoke from the buds of the cannabis plant, when I sketched this.

That was the in thing in the sixties, light up, tune in and drop out.

It was a wonderful time, except for Vietnam, bad trips, people freaking out and some over dosing on the heavy drugs.

We tend to remember the wonderful part, like extravagant, over the top designed cars, we saw no end to earths gifts.

The music “The Games People play”, “San Francisco” be sure to wear a flower in your hair, we were lucky living in a land of plenty.

The peace movement , “Blowing in the Wind”. We were becoming aware of conservation and the rights of women.

I started to grow up, the bubble had burst, I learned all is subject to change.

Till the mid sixties I did not realise that nature was a delicate balance and not mine to exploit.

Over the top.

All the jumping up and down about the Vietnam war was futile, like Iraq and the weapons of mass destruction,

They were words of mass seduction. Who makes money on war? The ones who produce the weapons and then rebuild the ruins.

To support either party is wrong as both sides are but a reflection of one reality. The true enemies are not people but ideology,

greed, hatred and ignorance.

I done a lot of miles in one of these.
