A thought is like a seed, will this seed grow? You will have to be patient you cannot hurry the process. Are you thinking about what you are doing now or are you thinking about something in the future? To make a good garden we must plant good seeds and take care how we plant them. You know the saying about sowing seed. The saying in one form or another has been attributed to many wise men. But my mother said “Be aware, as you sow so you reap.” Perhaps one of those wise guys got it from his mother but is a woman going to get credit. We often fail to follow the advice regardless of where it came from.
Mindful is more than aware, just as hearing is not the same as listening, it is like seeing but not observing. Busy people can be unaware of the scent of Jasmine on the air they breathe; or notice the white flowers standing out like stars on the green foliage or the blue sky. Intent on being somewhere else the present of now is lost. Not consciously aware as if flying in a fog on auto pilot we are not present for nature’s presents.
Slow down let the world catch up to you.
If I am mindful my world is changed to peace and beauty. If everyone was mindful the world would become a pleasant, peaceful, paradise. There would be no more fast food or take away, we would sit down, savour our food, every tasty morsel. No more unaware gobbling our food while watching TV. Mindless eating causes over weight and bad health.
What about earning a living? Yes we would still need to work but being consciously aware we would take pride in our work. Not rushing it to get to some future want.
Problems are caused because we want to be somewhere other than in the here and now.
Wanting is not the same a needing. We need to be present in the now not wanting to be somewhere in the future. Missing the wonder of now we waste our life. It is the journey not the destination. When your journey is over you can say, been there done that but I still don’t know what it was all about.
The result is a shoddy job, half done giving us no sense of achievement. When we work with enthusiasm with the feeling we are doing something worthwhile. Taking the time necessary to do things properly is worthwhile. When our mind is engaged in what we are doing we are alive.
A thought repeated becomes a habit. Our thoughts govern our actions. Think wholesome thoughts, to do this feed the mind nourishing vitalising food. You will not find much wholesome food advertised on TV.
