Enjoy your trip.
I am getting ready for I know I must go.
Into the low land to make the flowers grow.
No baggage allowed on this trip I am told.
You can’t take it with you, money or gold.
You should always practice traveling light.
Unnecessary baggage is never right.
Why do we cling to possessions in life?
That’s the cause of our troubles and strife
Possessions weigh you down and slow your pace.
This is the greatest problem for the human race.
Giving, sharing, relaxing and letting go.
We should practice, that is one thing I know.
It is a one-way ticket don’t miss the bus,
Because of baggage and needless fuss.
Do not grasp and cling to life in this way
Experience life’s joy, make it a holiday.
It does not matter if you walk or go by plane.
It’s the path you choose that makes it joy or pain.
Kindness, caring, hugs and maybe a kiss,
Is the way to fill your life with mostly bliss.
The destination is not the important thing.
It’s how much joy and happiness you bring.
When your travels are over, you may feel like a rest.
I don’t know but whatever happens it will be for the best.
You really sound and show the way, as the grand and happily young traveller that you are, Jack. Enjoy the sun, sea, the march of seasons, and the eternally evolving music of life…best wishes.
The first verse sounds a bit ominous Jack; I hope you are okay?
Thanks for your concern there is no problem. To be aware of our mortality helps us appreciate the now and the gifts nature provides. Some wast time in bed at the end of the long day we can sleep. _/\_
What a wonderful analogy on life Jack.
May we all travel light and enjoy the ride.
Wu Wei!
_/\_
Enjoy the free gifts nature provides and go with flow of nature. I see by your blog you do this. _/\_
A gentle poem full of wisdom!
We all need your words and thoughts, Jack
Wu Wei, indeed! And lovely photos 🙂
Okay, I just read this to Jim and started blubbering. This is so beautiful Jack and reflects the true beauty of your heart Jack. You made me cry and I don’t cry much. I’m holding on to this one. It is just profoundly lovely, as are you.
Cindy this is an incredible comment. I will reply later.
Jack is back, The day would not wait Pauline and I planed to go to an art demonstration. Then my friend who works out with me at the gym was expecting me.
Back to give you a well deserved reply, I did not mean to make you cry.
C J Dennis ” the Song of the Sentimental bloke.” is more like me.
T S Elliot “The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock is too deep.
I walk on the beach and eat the peach.
Jesus will not bring me back when I am dead.
So I must enjoy the now is what I said.
Tears of for joy for this crazy boy.
Tell Jim you are coming out of retirement.
Jack needs a professional psychological treatment.
You have made my day not in a Dirty Harry kind of way.
This comment is going “straight to the pool room. (Refer The castle.) https://jacksjottings.wordpress.com/2015/03/05/tell-him-hes-dreaming/
Still thnking about your poem and it reminded me of a passage from TS Elliot’s, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.”
“I am no prophet—and here’s no great matter;
I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,
And I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker,
And in short, I was afraid.”
TS was pondering his own life, and death, too.
I will have to look the poem up on Google. To see what good company you associate me with. I just play Cindy at art and poetry and I am certainly no prophet, and it is debatable if I am a poet or artist.
To keep our mortality in mind keeps us from wasting time.
That is the message I was trying to send. Thanks Cindy enjoy your day._/\_
Oh Jack.. such an excellent poem and of course your perspective on Life and Living is a joy to behold..
This journey here is all about the above.. And your words say it so well. and are complimented with each photo to perfection.
“The destination is not the important thing. It’s how much joy and happiness you bring.”.. 🙂 exactly..
Jack I do hope all went well today with your check over.. I bet you didn’t expect ‘That Trip!’ my friend.. I am so pleased no bones broken. and the gym didn’t get missed 🙂
I have had a lovely day between catching up in blog land to drawing and using my pastels.. Another Cat but a surprise present for my daughter as it’s one of her cats.. I took a picture some time ago.. I would sooner draw it from life rather than a photo, but I hope she will like it when its finished.. As its a typical pose of how her cat lays 🙂
Tomorrow I am taking part in the Flower over Flower post which Pauline is taking part with.. I have scheduled a post and hope it works.. As I have my granddaughter all day so will not be on line.
Take care my Good Friend.. You are thought of with great affection..
_/\_ Sue
Thanks Sue for your kind and encouraging words.
I am always saying ” Slow down, be mindful.”
I did not actually trip I just stepped into space, it was one small step for mankind but a giant step for me.
Not all bad I practiced concentrating on deep breaths and not following those negative thoughts ” I will be inactive for weeks,” etc. it helps the with pain also. At the time I said to Pauline “Get some photos it will liven up your post.” Then I put on my Academy award performance. I got of pretty light but the ultra sound shows some damage the doctor has prescribed cortisone injection and physio. treatment but no lifting in the Gym.
I will just work around it, all things are subject to change this time for the better. _/\_
I hope the cortisone injections help.. I remember having a frozen shoulder on time and the injections helped.
Just thankful you are ok.. And breathing deep would have helped.
I know nothing will keep you immobile for long 🙂 Just remember you have some time to go yet before you get ‘Wings’ to step off into space and go flying!..
Have a grounding! week 🙂 _/\_
It only hurts when I laugh, Yes,Pauline has me grounded.
I look around Sue and am so grateful for my good genes and my old blue jeans. I would be in trouble without them.;-) _/\_
Haha!.. Glad Pauline can tie you down lol 🙂 if only for a short while 🙂 enjoy your day Jack _/\_
‘As you set out for Ithaka hope your road is a long one and full of adventure, full of discovery…
Wise as you become, with so much experience,
you must already have understood what Ithacas mean …Myriades the flowers, the scents, the colours along your way, smooth and sunny sounds your journey … And when in Ithaca you’ll feel the relation between God and Man,you’ll feel Life itself without Beginning without End …’
*Keep enjoying it my friend, keep uprooting all the weeds that come your way*
As I am going through your art and your verses,I’ve a feeling that your’re halfway your Ithaca or you have almost reached it.You have collected all the goodness of our Ephemeral Life.I borrowed and paraphrased Cavafy’s poetic expression to help me follow your footprints and see the joys of your life.
I sign off with a broad smile,I did enjoy the journey with you,but I leave my soul behind in the sunrise scenery,in the flawless fiery skies where the luminous disc announces the arrival of a new day ~ Life is New every Day.Isn’t it ? ~
☀ Happy Sunday ☀
I have not been to Ithaca but there is still time.
Hope I am not like the “old man” in Cavity’s poem.
You have planted a seed, see if it grows.
Defiantly will keep enjoying,up rooting the weeds in my garden.
Thank you for those thoughtful words and to know you are visiting my past posts gives me joy.
I am exploring your blog and next week I will have more free time.
As we will be away from all my usual activities.
Then again it will be a whole new experience and lots to explore.
I feel the computer steels my time.
The sun shines and the birds are singing I must go.
Haply days my friend. _/\_
If it’s your destiny to visit the island, you won’t escape it.Unless you believe that destiny doesn’t exist. As for the seed,I figure it’ll grow.Seemingly, the soil is fertile.Thank you for exploring my blog,I’ll do the same as I’m certain sure that I’ll come upon some treasures.Enjoy every single minute of your life,my new WP friend._/\_
The history and art of ancient Greece holds the roots of the western world in art, philosophy and social structure. _/\_
And,as far as I can see through your posts, you have discovered the prominent element of the Greek spirit and thought.Great the concept that “Humans are the Measure of all Things”.The ancient Greeks wanted to know how the universe works and turned to philosophy, science, arts and brought into being thoughts that have influenced all Humankind for 2,500 years now.
When I said above that you’ve almost reached your Ithaca,I really meant it!Keep adding your wisdom to the “ersatz” world in which we live now. _/\_
Having you visit my posts and taking the time to comment in such a positive way is very encouraging.
Everything I write is what I have learned from Eastern Philosophers like the Buddha, Lao-Tzu and Geeks like Epicurus, his ideas and quotes are so good.
I actually live by the wisdom gather from any source and if I find it helpful may be others can give it a try.
The beauty is no one will ever know all the mystery in life.
The love is in the journey not the destination.
Zorba the Greek taught us that._/\_
