You only get out of life what you put into life. So smile and you will get a smile back, that’s a start. When you have tested that theory and found it works, you are ready for bigger things.
When the surf is up and the waves are rolling in, paddle out with your board. That’s not easy unless you have the right attitude and incentive. A+I=M, M being motivation. No need to be an Einstein, Surf bums know catching a wave gives you aim, as a matter of fact aim in capital letters, is their AIM in life. Einstein’s equations don’t mean much to a surfer, aim gives them a goal in life plus, strong arms and general good health. The difficult bit is the skill needed to catch a wave. You need to build up your muscles, strength and stamina to be able to catch a wave, also needed is timing and balance. At first you will get dumped and miss more waves than you catch.
This is where many give up and never get all the benefits. That is typical in life, like the toothless budgerigar it takes perseverance to suck seed, to achieve anything worthwhile you need perseverance.
There are times when you lack aim, that is attitude, incentive and motivation. The holiday is over, Monday is here, the board has a ding in, it needs fixing and money does not grow on trees. That’s life; we all have days when we have to get motivated. Put on some get up and go music, Heavy metal, rock and roll, lively flamenco or cachucha if classical is more to your taste. Before you realize it your mood has changed for the better and you are back on track, doing what has to be done. No matter how many or how big just make a start, the first step is the beginning of achievement.
The wise learn from adversity and are grateful. They see the donut as a food, not the worthless hole. They look at people worse off and do not envy those more fortunate. To sit down and tell yourself or anyone who will listen, your troubles does no good. It only aggravates the problem and keeps it alive. People soon will be avoiding you if you are always dumping your troubles on their happy day.
Ned Kelly’s parting words before they hung him were “Such is life.” And people remember him today, if he had said ‘Life sucks.” It would not have been so heroic. That is enough talk about life, while it moves on without us. Don’t just watch it on T.V., that’s not living. Catching a wave or experiencing some active pursuit, that is to be alive, do it now, that’s life
